Breeding restrictions
In Denmark Collies have following breeding restrictions regarding HD:
Both parents have to be HD X-rayed when they reach an age of 12 months and there has to be a HD status from DKK.
From the 1st. April 2000 the X-rays are judged on a scale: A , B , C , D and E.
A = HD free
B = Beginning HD
C = Mild HD
D = Severe HD
E = Very Severe HD
HD results are available for anyone that is interested and DCK (DCC) can offer a subscription for HD -
results incl. HD index for parents to puppies that have been registered with pedigrees in for the latest 6 months.
HD - results and HD index are sent out in January and July and cost Kr. 65,- which must be paid in advance to the
clubs treasurer
The clubs health committee compile each year a HD statistic over the Collies that have been HD x-rayed during the
past year. The results are published each year in the December number of "Colliebladet". The clubs magazine.
HD – index
Very simply explained it is information about the dog/bitch's relatives as well as being a tool to getting
a more reliable valuation of the dog/bitches breeding value than if you only look at their own HD - evaluation.
The newest information on HD-index can be bought at Danish Kennel Club and costs at the moment DKK 50,- for
5 dogs/bitches.
